Steven S. Little to Keynote at ImPAct Conference
Author and business expert Steven S. Little to speak at Pennsylvania Young Professionals 2008 ImPAct Conference
Three-day event to be held Sept. 12-14 at the Bayfront Convention Center
ERIE, PA — The 2008 Pennsylvania Young Professionals ImPAct Conference, scheduled for Sept. 12-14 at the Bayfront Convention Center, 1 Sassafras Pier, has partnered with the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership to host Steven S. Little as its keynote speaker.
Little, an expert speaker, writer and business consultant, is the author of The Milkshake Moment and The 7 Irrefutable Rules of Small Business Growth. Throughout the 1980s and 90s, Mr. Little was president of three fast growth companies; Both FAME, Inc. and Erb Industries, Inc. achieved profitable growth rates of more than 500 percent during Mr. Little's tenure, and as president of The Queensboro Shirt Company, Steve helped to build one of the country's most successful sites for Internet commerce.
Young Erie Professionals (yep!) is hosting the conference, themed “Get Active. Make an ImPAct.” In addition to the two keynote addresses, the conference will feature professional development sessions, speakers and social networking opportunities, with topics including public policy, technology, fundraising, personal finances, entrepreneurship, non-profit involvement, community development and more. Excursions to local attractions for conference attendees are also being planned, including the Tom Ridge Environmental Center , Presque Isle, and Jr.’s Last Laugh.
“As communities and businesses grow and progress they require thought and energy from a younger demographic,” said Tom Tredway, yep! president and ImPAct Conference co-chair. “Our goal is for attendees to travel back to their respective communities with enthusiasm to share dynamic ideas on making impacts professionally, socially and civically.”
This marks the first year the ImPAct Conference (Innovative Minds Creating Pennsylvania's Tomorrow) will be held in northwestern Pennsylvania . The 2008 conference is expected to engage the more than two dozen young professional groups from throughout the Keystone State and bring up to 500 people to the Erie region.
“The ImPAct conference is a tremendous opportunity to showcase the abundance of assets that make the Erie area a great place to call home,” said Tredway. “I think that visitors making their first trip to Erie will be pleasantly surprised to find a thriving group of young professionals enjoying this great community.”
Founded in 2001, the first ImPAct Conference was held in Pittsburgh to enlighten attendees on issues of public policy, recreational activities, and networking. Since its origin, the conference has been hosted in various cities around the commonwealth including Philadelphia (2003), Harrisburg (2005), and Pittsburgh (2001 and 2007). This year’s conference was made possible, in part, by Team Pennsylvania (Team PA) Foundation, the primary sponsor and supporter of Pennsylvania Young Professionals.

Krista Canfield, public relations director for popular social networking site LinkedIn, will provide one of the keynote addresses, sponsored by eBizITPA. Her presentation, entitled “Advance Your Career through Networking...the Old and the New Way!” will explore how online tools and social media outlets like LinkedIn, Naymz, Facebook, Myspace, and others have taken networking to a new level. She will describe successful ways young professionals have found jobs, broadened their horizons and understanding of their chosen industry, and taken their careers to the next level through these online channels.
